    3. Dear Jeanne, I don't mean to pry into your conversation with Lora , she has helped me in a few family people without knowing-- Today I visited the Edinburgh Library in Johnson Co. Since I was Looking for my G-Grandparents Shaver, the librarian said that to look in the three counties -Shelby, Johnson, and Barthalomew! It is a shot in the dark but why not ?? I did find a Dan Shaver who died in 1941 , his children were -----Clara Welch, Edna Mohr, Irene Cheshire and Ruth Schoen His sister was Mrs. Jesse Wertz, -- Buried== St. George Cemetry in Shelby County IN / Rev, Glenn O. Mills was the minister So what I am saying is not only try the county you know they lived but try the surrounding counties! there could be info !! If you happen to come across any Shaver(Ruth)/ Schoen/Henry Waldo.walter, roy, Cora Norman Harold... Wean-tMary/Teague, Mildred/ I would love to have a hollar from you or anyone out there to skoot me along again... Hope you find your info! 3. Thanks, Janet. The Bippus I'm looking for was named Frederick and the Marion County location is a real possibility. I don't think my Bippuses were from the Vanderburgh families but I am still checking. The (mis)spelling "Bebus" looks like an excellent possibility and is a good lead. Marion County is right where I'd expect to find my guy although you never know. I appreciate your taking time to give me this clue. 1. [INDIANA] MARTHA nee ROBINSON GAMMON b.02/19/1894 Washington,IN (OBIT)
    2. Decatur County Journal Iowa November l, l894 DIED--At her home in Eden Township, Decatur County, Ia., Wednesday, October l7, l894, MRS. MARTHA GAMMON. MARTHA ROBINSON was born in Washington County, Ind., February l9, l894. Was united in marriage to GEORGE W. GAMMON, March 20, l839.  Moved to Iowa in l849.  Their union was blessed by eleven children, all of whom are living except one son, who died in his thirteenth year.  Nine of the children were with her during her last illness and five of them were at her bedside when the death angel summoned her home. She joined the Christian Church when quite young and was a devoted and consistent member of the church up to the day of her death. She was esteemed and loved by all who knew her; a remarkable example of patience and kindness.  The entire community has sustained an irreparable loss.  Her children will miss that gentle voice which soothes as only a mother's voice can.  And her husband will cherish her memory for cheerfully sharing with him the burdens that necessarily come to all along the dusty road of life. A large concourse of neighbors and friends attended a short and impressive funeral service at the home and followed the remains to the Dye Cemetery where she was tenderly laid to rest to await the resurrection morn. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Copied by Nancee(McMurtrey)Seifert Note: She is buried in Meek Cemetery; however, it may have been called Dye at some time prior to being called Meek.

    2. Jeanne Surber
    3. Does ANYONE have an idea of where I might find an actual listing of a marriage that took place between Frederick BIPPUS and Rebecca SURBER. I think they were both Shelby County folk, and the marriage happened around 1860. There were children -- can't find their marriages either although we know they happened. (Rebecca was one of the daughters of the Jacob Surber who was b. ca 1795 - 1800 probably in VA - and his wife Catherine Lonas aka Catherine Jones in some genealogy records.) There were a lot of Surbers in Indiana -- still are for that matter -- but Bippus is a less common name and I'd welcome just ANY account of anything that happened to Frederick Bippus and his family. I think he was a "recent" immigrant (German I think) after 1850. We know from family that they were actually there -- but very official records seem to exist. I'd like to hear from anyone who has a BIPPUS connection. At least some of this family were apparently from a German settlement in Russia which I thought was interesting. I'd like to know more about it. Lora if you have a moment (AS IF!!!) I have looked in vain for this Bippus marriage with Rebecca Surber, and for later marriages of their Bippus children that must have taken place in Shelby County. Thanks. Jeanne Surber

    3. My family line shows a NAME CHANGE from Popejoy to Lovejoy around the late 1800's. Future children born to this family then carried the name LOVEJOY. What I wanted to know was, back then, did they HAVE TO change their name legally or could they just have taken on the name of Lovejoy and passed it down to their decendants? Now days it takes a legal name change to do this. If they DID HAVE TO do a name change legally, where would I find those type of records? Thank you. ..Jeff
