Hello All, I just got on the site. I think perhaps the key is that you must FIRST click on the Freemont Library URL: http://www.fremontlibrary.org/ THEN click on Databases Page, THEN scroll down and click on Genealogy and Local History on Line. DO NOT click on http://www.heritagequestonline.com/prod/genealogy/searchbasic as it will ask you for user name and password. I believe if you go through the Library, it acts as user name and password. See if this works for you; Hope so. I've had no trouble getting on this am. Hello! I find it kind of strange that a public library is linking to a site in which you must be a paying customer. Or is there a bar code secret I'm unaware of. Seems to be some confusion on how to access the free census records. Here is the way to do it. They are free. <A HREF="http://www.fremontlibrary.org/">Fremont Public Library</A> 1790, 1800 , 1810, 1830, 1840, 1870, 1910 census are online at http://www.fremontlibrary.org/ 1790, 1800, 1810 and 1870 are indexed. You don't need a library card on the Internet. Just click on the url and follow the links. http://www.burlington.lib.ia.us/ western property wrote: > > How do you use it from out of state if you don't have a library card? > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Monday, October 07, 2002 3:11 PM > Subject: Re: [INDIANA] Census site > > > <PRE>Access it thru the Library link she sent.....it is great.... > > > > > > ==== INDIANA Mailing List ==== > > To remove yourself from the list, type: > > unsubscribe > > in the first line of the message - NOTHING ELSE. > > Send it to: > > [email protected] > > > > ============================== > > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, > go to: > > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > > > > ==== INDIANA Mailing List ==== > Firstmom's Genealogy Resources - Indiana > http://khuish.tripod.com/indiana.htm > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237

Barb...it's really exciting to have access to the 1870 census...I really don't know if it ever got indexed into census books at the libraries. I got tired of checking to see. :-) Virginia > That makes 2 of us. I've almost run out of names to look up - great! Hi! Click on the Fremont Library URL (that Barb Gave) Then click on Databases Page Scroll down and click on Genealogy and local history on line Then click on Search Census I think the Fremont Library is the library card and has the name and password, if you get the drift. Somewhere along the line, Heritage might tell you to give name and password, but ignore it and try to get back. If you can't, just go back to the Fremont Library and start over. Hope this helps Virginia ----- Original Message ----- From: "S.
