I am interested to know if anyone has any information on the following Echols family from which many were born and married in Indian Territory near now what is known as Hugo, OK in the late, late 1800s and early 1900s. James/Thomas Echols b. Sept. 3, 1851 AL/MS; d. 1918 Cooke Co., TX; m. Ella Ann Powell ca 1878 prob in Pontotoc Co., MS. James/Thomas and family moved to TX about 1880, then to OK between 1895-1900, then back to TX sometime between 1901-1918. At least one child and several grandchildren were born in the Indian Territory. Children: Walter, Willie, no information. Guy b. ca 1879 Pontotoc Co., MS, d. ca 1899 Bruce Edward b. July 4, 1885 Rockdale, TX; d. Aug. 25, 1964 Orange, CA; m. Margaret Ann Bear Sept. 6, 1906 Hugo, OK. Gertrude b. 1892 Paris, TX. d. 1971 Riverside, CA; m. John Tipton Salkeld. Victor Eugene (Dick) b. 1894 TX; d. Santa Ana, CA; m. Ethel ?. Ray Compton b. Mar. 18, 1900 Indian Territory, near Hugo, OK; d. July 13, 1974 Santa Ana, CA; m. Beatrice ?. I have additional information on some of the grandchildren which I will gladly share if anyone is interested. I also have what I call a misc.
