    3. Hi all! I'm new to this list as of today, and judging by the posts I've seen you appear to be in the middle of a roll call. That's good timing for me! Here's what I'm looking for. My grandfather John Alexander Walton was born 9-7-1889 in Valliant, McCurtain Co, Ok. Father Alfred Walton born ? in the US, mother Martha Thompson born ? in Tx. A relative told me that John had 3 siblings: Thomas Jefferson, Joseph Baxter and Mattie Walton. I'm trying to find whatever I can on his parents, and siblings. I really don't know if my Waltons are Native American or perhaps mixed, or white. I've read that there were more intruders in Indian Territory around 1890 than there were Indians, so I suppose it could go either way. I do know that John ended up working for the railroad in TX; perhaps his father did too, in Ok. Or perhaps not. I've checked the 1900, 1910 and 1920 Soundex indexes for Ok and Tx, and the end section of the 1860 AR census which lists whites living in Indian Territory. No sign of any of them, except for the Jeff Davis, Tx 1920 census, which lists John and his wife and 3 children. I've also checked the Dawes rolls, with no luck. Sorry to be so long winded. Guess I'm looking for any advice as to what to try next. And of course if anyone has anything on my Waltons, please do tell. Thanks for any help you can give, Ray W Shoemaker _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
