Some of my group was located in Portland Park, outside of Ada, Pontotoc, Ok. I was told they were called intruders. Does any one know what is meant by this. Because I was told they were of Cherokee Descent. Isn't it great that we hall have Red Blood in our veins....:) Jan in Oregon

Does any one know what is meant by this? <snip>" Jan- "Intruders" were those who were occupying an area in Indian Territory in conflict with tribal laws-- where they had no legal right to live or work, either "by blood/citizenship" or by obtaining a tribal work permit. That area (Ada) was in the Chickasaw Nation of Indian Territory (see map at http://www.rootsweb.com/~cherokee/okmap.htm ). jc
