Hi Every one I am new at this so forgive any Boo Boo Can some one tell me how to look for ancestor on the 1835 Henderson Roll I found 1 on the Miller roll also how do you find what degree of indian blood they are? To answer your questions, to find out if one of the Lucy Harris' is your grandmother- first you must research your own ancestor to firmly establish where your grandmother was living in 1906/09 (find her on the 1910 U.S. census) and what her age and name would have been at that time (example- was she married?). I looked into the records, and in 1909 both of these Lucy Harris were living in northeastern Oklahoma, so if your Lucy was living elsewhere- then there is little doubt that neither of these two were "yours". You can read the instructions to start tracing your grandmother at http://www.rootsweb.com/~cherokee/page_1.htm. Since we work backward in time (1920, 1910, 1900, etc), you will need to establish your family's location in 1830 & 1840 before the 1835 roll will do you much good. Good luck Jerri
