Oleta In the past I have read one prominent Cherokee researcher say to me quite bluntly that there is absolutely NO relationship between the Melungeon's, Black Dutch and Cherokee....would you offer your opinion please AS for the Obediah Martin Benge application....I, personally, was just trying to help other researchers. I knew, fairly certainly, that you'd looked for any military records or pension records but was just trying to clarify for others who might not know. I have no (known) relationship to the Benge family but am 'dancing' around them along with the Martin's, Lawson's & Shelton's trying to pinpoint a relationship between the families. It almost HAS to be there if we could just locate more info. I appreciate your answering my earlier questions? I already have a proven lineage into more than one Rev.
