My ggUncles were Andrew Bilbrey and Isaac Jasper Bilbrey 1866-1921, from Overton Co. TN who went to the Indian Lands of Oklahoma in the early 1900's. The story goes that Jasper was killed by an Indian and years ago a gal from the Pushmataha Historical Society was going to send me a newspaper article on the killing. I lost her address and was unable to reach her again (Ms.Kay Black, I think). Could someone find that for me - I will gladly send whatever it costs to get a copy of this newspaper article. Hope it answers some questions for our family. We never knew the details of this killing. I have these cousins as listed in Cloudy Cemetery at Antlers: Bilbrey, Isaac Jasper, 1866-1921. His wife Phoebia Isbel 1884-1919m children: ??? Jasper's brother Andrew Bilbrey reported the death to our family in Tennessee. Andrew J. Bilbrey was on the 1910 and 1920 Pushmataha OK census as: Bilbrey, Andrew J. age 39 m. 16 years to Sarah E. age 40 (6 children, 3 living) William M. Bilbrey 13 son, Tina A. 11 yr. old dau. and James E. Bilbrey 5 years old. The 1920 Hanratty Twp. Coal Co. OK lists Bilbrey, Andrew 49, Sarah age 50 with Jim age 16, Norma 19 dau.-in-law from OK and Dortha age 1 9/12 grand dau. She may have been William's wife or widow???
