Sandra, Hate to disappoint you, but there are two ways to pronounce "Row"-- one is as "Row your boat" and another is as in " They got into a row at the party". The surname is pronounced like the "boat" example, and the name of the town was as in the second example-- and for a good reason. According to "Place Names of Oklahoma", the town of Row was named by James R. Wilson, the first Postmaster, "because of the number of drunken brawls and killings" that had taken place there. jc > I'm researching the ROW surname in Pottawatomie co, OK and Northeast TX. > Does anyone know of a connection between the family and this town?
