This is not in my line, but I have been searching "Old Rowan Co" (includes Rowan, Davidson, Davies, Guilford, Randolph, and many other counties) in western NC recently for Hoover/Carrick/Skeen/Cross, and have very often seen the name Booe in marriage lists, etc, etc. Seems like a probable link to me. I'm sure it caught my eye partly because it is unusual. But there apparently were a goodly number of Booes in the area. It didn't strike me until writing this but, back far enough for the all the spelling shifts, this might be related to the Bowie line also?
