can someone please tell me if the (Winnebego Indian Reservation) in Nabraska X's over Iowa River is Sioux or Cherokee or can any one that is Indian stay there ? i was told i am Cherokee but my Dad was born there in 1932 & it looks to be Sioux to me can any one help Thanks Bud =========== Bud This is the Omaha Sioux tribe, different from the Hunkpapa Sioux that Sitting Bull belonged to, or the Oglala Sioux that Crazy Horse and Red Cloud belonged to, who now live on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Both are active Reservations with their own governments, and if your dad was born there, his mother either resided within the boundaries of the reservation or was there at the invitation of someone who did. (There are Cherokee's in Nebraska - could it be you have connections to both tribes?) The tribe should have records of a birth in 1932.
