I have recently found out that 2 of the chiefs of the MDEWAKANTON DAKOTA TRIBE were named RED WING. My GGGrandmother's name was RED WING also. Anyone have any info on ths tribe or family name ? She was born in 1836; and later married to JOHN T. DODSON(born 1820); and resided (as far as I know;since she was in the 1870 and 1880 censuses in Rappahannock county, Virginia) in Virginia.
