Hi list I'M trying to help out my cousin on her family. If you have any information about the below e-mail would you please advise me. Ivan: >From The O2 Ranch of Kansas E-mail O2Ranch@ckt.net Dear Ivan, Thank you for the Cantrell info. I know very little about Richard's family other than his grandfather, James Henry Cantrell was born July 14, 1862, married Mary Elizabeth Mitchell, born May 30, 1871 and left Alabama in a hurry when his brother supposedly shot a man. They went to Texas and worked as share croppers. Also picked crops in California in the 20's. Richard's grandmother, Mary, was 3/4 Cherokee. I never met her, but the family would not talk about their roots never able to find out where she was born or anything about the Cantrells. Richard's mother was left in an orphanage in Dallas when she was eight, along with her 2 younger brothers and baby sister (her mother had died and her father couldn't care for the children.) Fifty years later, she found out that her father had remarried and had a family in Ft. Worth. All I know about these grandparents are their names: Victor Alexander (Andy) Autrey and Ina Pearl Leatherwood. We have a picture of Andy when he was a policeman in Dallas around the turn of the century. Got to run--have an Audubon meeting tonight.
