Dear list: I found out that my ggrandmother told my grandmother that she thought she had been born in Indian Territory or in Arkansas. Subsequent investigation revealed that she was born in New Mexico Territory, at or near Fort Fillmore in 1859. Her brother, Matthew Green Jr. was also born there in 1857. My question is: If she thought she had been born in the Indian Territory or in Arkansas, and lived there in the year 1861 and 1862 as a 3 or 4 year old girl, where would she most *likely* have lived? She was born Jennie or Jane C. Green, and her father was Matthew Green Sr. and her mother was Jane Armstrong Green. Both her parents were born Ireland in 1825 and 1832 respectively. Matthew Green Sr. was a Confederate officer or private. I wonder if Ft. Smith, Ark. is a possible location for her to have lived there during that early time of the war? PLEASE help. Thanks!
