    1. [IT ROOTS] Jane ARMSTRONG, Quaker missionary circa 1851-1856?
    2. Tim Walls
    3. Dear listers: I haven't posted here in a few years. I am searching for clues to my 2x Great Grandmother. Does anyone know of a possible Quaker woman named Jane ARMSTRONG or of any other Quakers who might have come to this territory from Philadelphia to work with the Indians here? I need to document the travels of my Irish great great grandmother from Philadelphia to some place around here. Supposedly my Irish great great grandfather, Matthew GREEN brought Jane back with him to New Mexico in the late summer of 1856 after taking a furlough for about five months. Matthew was a soldier in the U. S. Army in New Mexico Territory and I've always wondered just where he took his furlough, which lasted from about March to August of 1856. Matthew was in the 3rd Infantry of the U. S. Army, serving under various captains, including Capt. James Noble Ward and Lt. Alexander Early Steen or Alexander Early Stein. Another captain was named Capt. Clitz. So if anyone can help point me in the right direction for looking up activities of Quaker missionaries in the territory here let me know. Thanks! TWW
