Homer A Land of Republic Mo 2 Oct 1920 in Bentonville Homer was born in Republic Mo 2 March 1900 and died on the 3rd of March 1981 in Mesa Arizona Children: 1 Catherine Janette Land lived only 2 days in 1935 2 Ardith Jane Land (me) 2Theodore Young Crittenden b 1904, Bentonville d 1940's He had several children, one of whom was also Theodore Young Crittenden, called TY. He died about 2 years ago in Washington. The Young name has been carried on for so many generations that there must have been regular contact between the families. Clearly they were there in Mo very early before any roll were taken. The also clearly moved easily between Missouri and Arkansas and Mississippi, all Indian Territory early on and always populated by Cherokee and others of the 5 tribes. The Crittendens traditionally have Cherokee blood and my cousins whose gggranfathers were three of the sons of William Land from SC, believe that there is Cherokee heritage there too. They married with no problem into Native families,e.g. Martha and John Carney and my father and mother. My mother clearly was of Cherokee origin too, as am I and my grandson. Brothers often married sisters, it happened several times in my family, and named their kids after each other and the siblings of both families. I have pictures of Polly and Mary Young and of Edmond Carney and his family. You might also check with Steve Shults, a cousin who has info on the family too. [email protected] Note the Francis Marion in the Shults/Young line. Coincidence?? Sorry to take so much space but it sounds to me like a strong link exists here and maybe we can put part of the puzzle together. God Bless, Jane
