Someone has her mother listed as Elizabeth Hancock.. born 1804 died 1845". <snip> Betty, I would suggest that you check page 302C of the 1880 U.S. census -Calhoon, Mclean Co KY for your Abney family. Mary M. and her children are all shown as "white". Also check family 749 on the 1850 Lincoln Co TN census for the Gabriel KYZER family: Gabriel (age 46); Jasper (age 12); Herod (age 9); Alcey (age 7); Mary (age 6); and Nancy E, (age 5). Living next door (family 748) are Gabriel's parents: Phillip KYZER (age 81) and Anny (age 84). They are all shown as "white". I don't know where you got your information about your ancestor, Mary M. being "a half-blood Indian", but she is not shown on any Cherokee rolls or applications, and since she was 6 years old, all of the census shows both she, her siblings, parent and grandparents as "white". Her place of birth (Lincoln Co TN) is not within any area that was inhabited by an Indian tribe. Best of luck in tracing your ancestry. Jerri Chasteen Claremore
