Hate to "bust your bubble", guy-- but (1) there was no such thing a "a Cherokee Princess" and (2) the Cherokees never inhabited any part of VA in recorded history (or since 1545, whichever you choose to use!). Actually, if you had been raised here in the Cherokee Nation you would know that to claim that you have "a Cherokee Princess" ancestor is considered an insult (to our intelligence!)! Usually the person that it is mentioned to will lower their eyes ("we will not look upon the face of a liar") or give you the ultimate Cherokee insult-- they will turn their back to you (same meaning)! There are no Cherokee Princesses, however this states that by that phrase many were describing that their kin were actually the daughter of the chief...the assumption was that this made them a princess.
