    3. Having recently subscribed to this list in hopes of finding a clue to a female "brick wall", but with the first few posts I received, I find the comments from the list moderator just too much to bother with!! My GENEALOGICAL pursuit started as a hobby many, many years ago as did my medical problems. My brick wall has sat a branch apart, a dead end on all the usual means of locating her heritage. Having only a single given name to work with, but she was described by one of her children (who was born in IT) as the color of leather with eyes as black as night unlike her very German husband. Through the years, I have explored a few different angles on her with no success. According to oral history their family moved many times between Indian Territory, Missouri and Arkansas. They had a strong distrust of the US government, to the point I have had trouble locating 20th century records on their descendants. Many of their descendants still reside in these areas. She never much bothered me until recently when I found information on a disease with a GENETIC marker that may explain my doctors lack of ability to give long term relief to my symptoms as it mimics many other diseases. This disease strikes primarily people of Middle Eastern descent, but is also found in one indigenous people of the US. (Melungeons, but where better to raise a mixed family than with people who "look" like you? You know, since racial prejudices were unheard of in the 1800's...) So next time you "talk" to "the people" at BYU you might ask about the disease FMF since the Mayo Clinic apparently doesn't know what it's talking about & you "know" that DNA plays no part in GENEALOGY! BE REAL, YOU ARE PIECES OF WHO THEY WERE!!!! Don't bother to unsub me, I'll do it myself. I know how to use the mailing list archives & live close enough to do "hands on" research if I do happen across her. I want no part of your tyrannical little list!!! > This is a G-E-N-E-A-L-O-G-I-C-A-L mail list. > > It is NOT a DNA, high cheekbones, and > "my-grandmother-was-an-Indian-because-she-had-long-pointy-toes" mail > list. If you want to discuss those things, then I'm sure there is a mail > list for them- but THIS ISN'T IT! > > I attended annual GenTech Seminar in Mesquite TX last weekend. I talked > to the people at the BYU booth--- and you are ALL wrong!!!! > > > Jerri Chasteen > List Owner
