Does any one have info or know about a Jacksie Standing Turkey or the Capt. John Ward or Rees T. Bowen? Jacksie left the Cherokee Territory and headed back to Tennessee to his mothers around 1840's because of the Ridge and Ross fractions in the Nations. Jacksie was with the Ridge party but when his brother got murdered he headed back to Tennessee. On his way back to Tennessee he met up with the Bowens and Wards who were headed to the Nation to become citizens, invited there by an open invitation extended to the Cherokee's east by the Cherokee's west. After meeting Jacksie and hearing the trouble in the Nation the Bowen and Ward families decided to stop 50 miles from the Nation until all the trouble died down to where they thought it would be safe to go on in. But they ended up buying land in the county and never did go on in to the nation to be come enrolled there.
