Will someone please tell me where the land records are located for old San Bois County. My gg-gf, David C. Betts reportedly owned some land there, tho he lived in Blue (Bryan) Co. He was a white man married to a Choctaw. Best wishes, Carl Phillips Placerville, CA
http://www.rootsweb.com/~okhaskel/xtown.htm will tell you something of Sans Bois. Many choctaws still live in this area north of Kinta, Most old ones call it " San Boy" Town....some Fish Creek. The Sans Bois Mountain Range is historic to our people. The Sans Bois cemetary holds historic grave sites such as the last elected chief of the Choctaw Nation before statehood, Chief Green McCurtain and many members of his family, also my great great grandfather, who was Chief McCurtain's personal body guard, selected from the lighthorsemen. I have alot of historic information re Sans Bois.
