Hello Billie, I just sent a post for Robin about her Catcher and Still's.The Moses Daniel you mention is Tom's (my husband) Gr. Gr. Gr. Grandfather. Moses' mother is Nannie Still, daughter of John Still and Nancy Catcher. (I received this information on Nannie's parents from the Cherokee Heritage Center Genealogy Dept.) I always thought that since George Still and Moses Daniel were conductors together, they were probably related somehow through Moses' mother, Nannie Still. I just don't know how, siblings, cousins, etc. Any ideas?? I also have a connection to the Foreman's. If you will see my post to Robin, you will find our Wilson line. It starts with Nancy Augusta and she had 2 daughters. One daughter, our line, is Ruth Springston/Drumgoole. She was married to John Foreman, son of John Foreman and Susie Ti-Ta-S-Gi and had one son, Johnson Foreman, before she married George Wilson, SR. . Nancy Augusta's other daughter, Nannie Drumgoole was also married to John Foreman, son of John Foreman and Susie Ti-Ta-S-Gi. Nannie's first marriage to Chief Doublehead and last to Edward Springston. Nannie was the mother on James Foreman and Isaac Springston, who along with Nannie's brother Alexander Drumgool, JR, was accused of being involved in the murders of the Treaty Party, and earlier in the east - J. Walker. Also, you show a Duncan, which I haven't came across yet in our line, but the Wilson's lived next to a Duncan's for awhile. I saw this on a Census or Roll, can't recall off hand which one-but will look later for it if anyone wants it. Also in my reply to Robin, I have our Hildebrand line. If you go to Mary Elizabeth McCreary, I have listed Mary's daughter, Martha Jane Daniel. Mary had a second daughter by James Daniel, Nancy Downing, born 1862. James Daniel died in 1862, so we assumed Mary married or lived with a Downing, (but we have not found anything on it.) and Nancy used his surname. There are quite a few marriages in our lines between the Daniel (Still and Catcher), Wilson and Hildebrand's. After reading the info from you and Robins information, I am excited about finding out where my Catcher/Still might fit into the picture. Got to read all this new info again and then get to bed. Please email me at tomnpat@myturbonet.com or on here :-) Patty and Tom ----- Original Message ----- From: <BillieNap@aol.com> To: <Indian-Territory-Roots-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, October 23, 2005 11:05 AM Subject: Re: Indian-Territory-Roots-D Digest V05 #66 > My GGGGgrandparents were Catherine Downing and George Still. Hi Robin, I have HILDEBRAND, CATCHER/STILL and WILSON's. I have: John HILDEBRAND, SR and Susannah WOMANCATCHER's daughter Nannie HILDEBRAND. Nannie was a half sister to your Michael HILDEBRAND. Nannie HILDEBRAND married Hiram McCREARY and they had Mary Elizabeth McCREARY, b. 1840. Mary McCREARY married 1) James DANIEL and 2) James ALCORN. Mary McCREARY and James DANIEL had a daughter, Martha Jane DANIEL - I'll get back to her later. James DANIEL is the son of Moses DANIEL and Martha TARRANT. Moses was the conductor of the 7th detachment of the Trail of Tears. Moses DANIEL is the son of Marmaduke DANIEL and Nannie STILL. Nannie STILL is the daughter of John STILL and Nancy CATCHER. I don't have any other information on John STILL or Nancy CATCHER. Back to Martha Jane DANIEL, b. 1861. Martha married Lewis WILSON, b. 1858 and they had only one child together, my husband's grandfather, James Daniel WILSON, b. 1877. Lewis WILSON is the son of George W. WILSON, JR. and unknown mother. George W. WIlson, JR is the son of George W. WILSON,SR. and Ruth SPRINGSTON/DRUMGOOLE. ( Starr list Ruth under both names). Ruth's parents were William Springston and Nancy Augusta. (Nancy's 2 husband was Alexander Drumgoole, SR.) George W. WILSON, SR's parents were Thomas WILSON, SR. and Betsy McCREARY. George W. WILSON, SR and Ruth SPRINGSTON/DRUMGOOLE had 11 children (Ruth had one son, Johnson Foreman, before marrying George Wilson) ii. WILLIAM3 WILSON, SR, b. October 14, 1811; d. June 30, 1897. iii. ELIZABETH WILSON, b. Abt. 1814. iv. ARCHIBALD M WILSON, b. 1815; d. March 18, 1871?. v. ALEXANDER DRUMGOOL WILSON, b. 1817, CNE [GA]; d. March 23, 1858. vi. MARY J WILSON, b. 1821, Tennessee; d. Aft. 1906. More on JOHN WILSON: 1851 Old Settler roll: Delaware, 31 (1895 page 9) 1894-96 O.S. payroll: Grizley Flats, CA, page 9 (Emily W Breedlove, atty) Education: September 28, 1840, New Spring Place Mission School Residence: 1906, California xi. ANDERSON SPRINGSTON WILSON, b. 1830; d. December 26, 1865. xii. MALINDA WILSON, b. August 26, 1834; d. Aft. 1906. On the Wilson Line -- Do you think it is possible for George Wilson, JR's brother, John to be your John Wesley Wilson? I wonder because my husbands' brother has Wesley for a middle name. But I don't know if their Dad knew it was a family name or if it is just a coinsidence! As for Nancy CATCHER and Nannie STILL, I haven't anymore on them. They are going to be my winter project. If you think there is a connection, please let me know! And on the Hildebrand line, it looks like you and my husband are cousins!! Yeah, I love finding family:-) Our email is tomnpat@myturbonet.com Please email us! My GGGGgrandparents were Catherine Downing and George Still. Catherine was the mother of Tickaneesky Still and the mother of my ggg-grandfather Thomas Still who was married to Katie aka Gettie (Downing ?) Still. Unsure who her parents were exactly, but do know that somehow we are related to either or both the Baldridge and Fedder families. Katie aka Gettie Still died on the removal (she was a member of the Moses Daniel & George Still Detachment) and Jack later remarried. Moses was of course the conductor and George was the assistant conductor. I do know that there were "two Jack Stills" and never knew for sure the relationship. These would be my Jack and the other one is probably the one who served in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend. Do know for sure that there was also a cousin to my g-grandfather named Jack Still also. My gg-grandparents were Samuel Still and Thirsey AKA Thersa (Colvin) Foreman-Still both of whom are buried in Foreman Cemetery. Thirsey was the mother of Edward, Ellis, Nelson and Mary "Polly" Foreman, and their father was Charles Foreman. The children of Thirsey and Samuel were Samuel "Black," Thomas, Armine Craig, Emeline Neugin, Caroline Robbins and Addie Shirley. My g-grandparents were Thomas Still and Lucy Duncan who are buried in Foreman Cemetery along with many of my ancestors. The latter was the daughter of Ah-ley AKA Ellen (Keath) Duncan-Sixkiller and John Thommason Duncan and the granddaughter of Johnson Keath and Sallie (unk) Keath-Sixkiller-Walker. Both Sallie and Ah-ley are buried in Lacie Cemetery near Westville. Will share what I can. Wado and Donadagohvi, Billie
