    1. Re: Indian Territory Roots L Digest V99#23
    2. HI, I am searching for any info on the family of James L. Lott, married in 1865 in Miss. to Elizabeth McGee Lott. Both were born in Miss., he in 1843 ,she in 1850 They moved to LImestone Co. TX in 1880. I know James L. Lott had a brother named John, one probably a Milton Kenneth and a sister named Sallie Lott(or Sarah last known of in Gatesville, TX) His father was born in LA, his mother in Miss. Her parents were born in MIss. I need to find the names of James L. Lott and Elizabeth McGee Lotts' parents and where they lived.. (Elizabeth McGee Lotts' parents may have been Albert and Susan McGhee, she may have had a sister named Emma, and an aunt named Cynthia Beck, then Smith, then Barton. The Becks would be the grandparents of Elizabeth(Lizzie) and Emma McGhee. I am not positiev these McGhees and Becks were her family, but would like to find out if anyone knew of them) I am also researching the Littleberry Lott(b.1808), Jesse Lott families. They were on the Hinds Co. Miss. at one time, probably from Ala. before that. Also researching Suckey McGeehe, of Hickory Ground Town, in Ala.1832. I am also researching the family of Moses Tyler, and Thomas Jefferson Tyler who was the grandfather Ira Lee Tyler(my grandfather) of Coleman, TX. Hope to hear from anyone knowing of these Lotts/McGees/McGeehe/Tyler families. Thanks so much. Please email me at MIk MP

    2. I am still searching for info on Martha Ann CLARK/MEEKS/RALLS. I have learned that her parents, according to the death certificate, are John and Nancy CLARK. That isn't overly helpful in that those are such common names. I found 3 listings for a Martha MEEKS on a NAIL search, through NARA. One was in 1884, during the time my Martha was a MEEKS. She was being charged for not appearing at the trial of Robinson Kemp. The other two were enrollments to the Chickasaw Nation, after 1898, after she married RALLS. She was listed as doubtful. One of those led me to Mead, which is in Bryan County. Thanks to the kind folks at the Chickasaw Nation Headquarters, I now have documentation that Martha's daughter, Hettie or Hattie MEEKS married Sam CALHOUN and had a daughter, Emily. Emily was applying for citizenship in the Chickasaw Nation and approved. It listed Moses and Martha MEEKS as parents. It also listed Hattie's last name as LAMAR. Emily's Chickasaw blood came from Sam CALHOUN, not her mother and was listed as 1/2. So, even though I have learned some facts, I still am no further along on Martha's past. Does anyone have a suggestion of where to turn next? I am still new at this research and would appreciate any guidance. Georgia

    1. Sockwell surname and Duncan, OK, and Mountain Park, OK
    2. Wanda Bradford
    3. I'm researching the Sockwell surname. I know I have ancestors who moved to OK and TX in the late 1800's. I have a postcard with a photo of West Half, Main Street, Duncan, OK from April, 1908. The photo shows the various businesses and the trafffic - mules and wagons! It is from Oscar Sockwell to his brother John H. Sockwell. He states he has "moved the Bottling works to the new Ice Factory. Am now ready for the rush this summer." I also know I have ancestors buried in a cemetery in Mountain Park, OK. If anyone has info regarding Sockwells in OK or Texas, I'd appreciate your help. Thank you. Wanda Bradford, Russellville, Franklin Co., AL

    1. Re:Cemeteries
    2. Wow! Between Claremore and Owasso covers a lot of territory. There is an "indian" cemetary in Jay, OK, known as Jumper Cemetary. It has headstones dating back to at least 1870. Both indian and white are burried there. The only photos I have of the cemetary are of my ancestors. :-) acp ---------- Cnfb@aol.com on 01/10/99 11:59:22 AM To: Indian-Territory-Roots-L@rootsweb.com cc: (bcc: Collene Pearce/FSG/CSC) Subject: Re:Cemeteries I am looking for names of cemeteries in the Claremore-Owasso area that would have graves dating back to 1897 or 98. If you choose Rogers for county, Oklahoma for state and cemetery for feature it will list all of the known cemeteries in that county. It will give you the location by longitude and latitude and will also produce a map showing the precise location. Some of the cemeteries between Claremore and Owasso would be, Chambers (2), Marshall, Sandridge, Bushyhead, Wann, Wofford and Riverhill. If you have Delorme's Atlas 5.0 or Atlas 6.0 map CD, all of the GNIS named items are noted on the map(s) with some symbol or name. In the case of cemeteries it is a small cross with no name attached. You can reverse the search by noting the Long. and Lat. of a cross then find it on the GNIS listing, then verify by having it show it's map location. --part0_916082234_boundary--
