The promises made ************ Just for everyone that might be interested - I fully believe that one must take each verse in the Bible in context with the what is written. Therefore I submit below the full chapter of Malachi 4. Just to make sure everyone understands - Christian church's use various bibles - New International Version, King James Version, New King James Version, American Standard Version, etc. These various versions have been created to be more readable and understandable to some. We Christians all have our favorite versions. Malachi chapter 4 "Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire, says the Lord Almighty. "Not, a root or a branch will be leftr to them. But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall. Then you will trample down the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I do these things," says the Lord Almighty. "Remember the law of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel. Malachi 4:5-6 actually states "See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. (6) He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse." Hi, Am searching for any connections (relatives or others) and information on a few families from the Pottawatomie County OK area. The major names are Joseph Blackstone Deen, William Wallace Melott, and any connection to the Gierhart family who lived in or near Shawnee between 1890-1910. Melott had two wives, the first was Naoma Gierhart, who must have died young, possibly after childbirth. She had one son, Charles R. Melott. W.W. Melott then married again to Myrtle ? and they had several children. They are all listed on the Citizen Pottawatomie Nation rolls. If the names sound familiar and you would like more details, let me know and I will provide them. Thanks! Shelly Henley Kelly Galveston TX shelly@rosenberg-library.org
Thanks for the information. Keep in mind, I'm asking this strictly for informational purposes. I'm anti religious in my beliefs, so my purpose is not to determine if I'd like to join the church, etc. ;-) However, I'm curious about this practice and the LDS church has contributed so much to genealogical research, I think we should know this. :-) replying to Kathie Donahue: >I am a worker in an FHC and have been for over 14 years. But what is "sealing"? What does it really do? What do they do to insure those ansestors, who may or may not have been LDS members get to be with them in heaven? Is there a ceremony where they read the names or whatever and then they are "sealed" (will be in heaven with) the member? ...snipping.... >Hope this helps. >Kathie Donahue It did. Greetings, My name is Ed Roberts and I'm new to this list. I'm searching for the following surnames: ROBERTS, SHIPMAN, LONG, ALLEN and FREEMAN. some of their marriages were to HOWARD, BARNES, and FULBRIGHT. Specific areas they lived were, Sallisaw, Akins, Webbers Falls, Sugar Loaf area, Choctaw Nation, Long and other places in these general areas that are no longer on the map. Ed
I believe in God. I have my own religion (Baptist). I read my on bible & I say my own prays. I do not feel that my genealogy research needs to be a sermon from LSD. I don't condemn their belief & what they do. More power to them. I don't preach to them! I don't feel this is right place for them to preach to us. We are here for looking for our ancestors. Not to be preached to! I am sure some of my ancestors were LDS.I would love history on them. But I do not need to be preached to. If this Offends any one then remove me from you list! Barbara
T all, I'am trying to prove my ggg grandmother was Choctaw Indian, is there another microfilm that I can look at. I looked at the Dawes Rolls but didn't find her or her parents on it. She was born in 1860,Union Co.,Tn. Her name is Melvina E. Monday. Thanks, Al
Hello all, I know this is kinda off the subject but this will only take a second. There will be a Family Reunion of the Sixkiller Family in Tahlequah, Okla. on Labor Day Sept. 1999. Everyone is supposed to meet at Northeastern State University. Thankyou, and I hope all you inlaws & outlaws can make it. Johnnie J. Sixkiller Alberton, Mt. 59820

Message-ID: <001a01be55df$1c4674c0$f784e59b@a> The information about the FHL going online, is confusing and not accurate. People are misunderstanding what the BYU article said and what is meant by "files" in this this story's context. The "files" are reference to AncestralFile -- not the actual files (microfilmed records). There are rumors that the FHL Catalog will be put online -- perhaps this year, but I have not been able to get confirmation of that. Most of the records at the FHL (and thus via the FHCs) are in microform -- film and fiche -- and probably will be that for some time. While "virus warnings" are barred from this mail list because there are so many out there that are nothing more than a joke, I DO feel that when a real one comes along that I (NO ONE ELSE) should notify the mail list! This is an e-mail Trojan Horse-type "Worm", but it cannot come to you thorough the rootsweb mail list-- let me assure you of that. The reason that it cannot come to you from our mail list is that it is necessary for you to open an attachment, and rootsweb does not allow attachments to be sent to a mail list. You may read about this worm at http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/happy99.worm.html or http://www.datafellows.com/v-descs/ska.htm This worm and other trojan-horse type programs demonstrate the need to practice safe computing. One should not execute any executable-file attachment (i.e. EXE, SHS, MS Word or MS Excel file) that comes from an email or a newsgroup article from an unknown or a untrusted source.
