You can get to a quicker link to NARA's Miller roll pages by going to: http://www.ancestry.com/nara/micropub/millerix.htm (a free page), which also has links to a list that tells which roll of microfilm each application is on and how to order copies of the application from NARA. > -----Original Message----- > From: Dorothy Gray [mailto:dottur@ptsi.net] > Sent: Friday, February 26, 1999 5:19 PM > To: Indian-Territory-Roots-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: GUION MILLER ROLL > > > I have the following URL for the Guion Miller Cherokee Indian > Roll, but it > now says there is an error and I can't open it. I have the following URL for the Guion Miller Cherokee Indian Roll, but it now says there is an error and I can't open it. Can someone tell me if this has changed, or what if the URL for this roll? The one I have is http://www.nara.gov/nara/nailgen.html and I have used it before and it worked---now it doesn't! Thanks for the correct address. Dorothy

Hi All, I just ordered microfilm to find my ggg grandmother(hopefully) on the Choctaw tribe. And my question is that which one to choose from there has to be "at least 20". I ordered another one that pretains to the Records relating to enrollment(not on the Choctaw tribe) and there was "at 12 vol." Which one to go for. Is there a certain one I should get? Thanks, Al
Sandra, Hate to disappoint you, but there are two ways to pronounce "Row"-- one is as "Row your boat" and another is as in " They got into a row at the party". The surname is pronounced like the "boat" example, and the name of the town was as in the second example-- and for a good reason. According to "Place Names of Oklahoma", the town of Row was named by James R. Wilson, the first Postmaster, "because of the number of drunken brawls and killings" that had taken place there. jc > I'm researching the ROW surname in Pottawatomie co, OK and Northeast TX. > Does anyone know of a connection between the family and this town? Vicki Deering; I have a book titled 'Pioneer Families 1880-1985 of Row-Colcord' counties. There are several Ramsey families listed. Do you have access to this book? e-mail me if you would like me to look something up for you! Jan
Vicky Deering I have a Row/Colcord History of "Pioneer Families, 1830-1885". I did a quick check and there are several biographies of Ramsey families listed. The book is not indexed, and it is hard to find names but if you think any of these are connected to your Ramsey's I will try to send you some of the information. The Biographies that are listed are: Arvel Ramsey (b. 1908), son of Walker and Levy Ramsey. Randall Leon Ramsey (b. 1922) son of Walker Grover Cleveland Ramsey, he was 8th of 9 children. Then there was a biog. of a Walker Grover Cleveland Ramsey. He married Olivia in 1907. The article said he was the father of the Ramsey's who settled in the Row Colcord area. Another one was William Marion Ramsey (b. 1919). I didn't see a Charlie Ramsey, but I just glanced at the articles (several pages of them). If you think these are your family I will take a closer look. Let me know if any of these interest you. Dorothy dottur@ptsi.net
Hi! I'm looking for my ggrandparents who lived in Choctaw, Indian Territory, OK. They were married in 1875. Stephen Folger (b.1839 N.Y) was a traveling minister. He met and married Mary Coodey (possibly born or lived in Texas at one time.) They had four children together and raised one stepchild named Barton Fisher. The children they had together were: Alice Gertrude Naomi Folger, Steven Van Penoyer Folger, Guy Montraville Folger, and Marvin Winfield Scott Folger. Stephen and Mary passed away in 1890-1891. If anyone recognizes these names, or has ANY information at all . . . I would greatly appreciate your help. It is possible that Mary Coodey may be part native american - Cherokee, and that Barton Fisher may be part Choctaw. Thank you all so much for reading this posting and for any help. Jeri

Row was located in southern Delaware County, 9 miles northeast of Kansas Oklahoma. In 1930 the postoffice was moved one mile south and the name was changed to -- Colcord! Doubt if a birth certificate was issued at the time of birth, but during WWII it was difficult to get a public job without a b/c. Therefore, many people who were not issued one at birth applied for a "Delayed Birth Certificate". You might want to try.
