See what I mean!
I have been listed for several weeks now and I find everything on rootsweb very interesting and I can hardly wait for each day to look at what's posted for that day. However, I am a novice at this computer thing and looking at this particular post I want to check it all out but I do not have a clue at how to access it. Please help me learn. sdrew@bemidji.k12.mn.us
Hezekiah Muse #97 in Skullyville County, Choctaw Nation and his son G. A. Muse #168 are listed in the 1882 List of Intruders. Was Ward, OK in Skullyville County? I wonder if Benjamin Gerelds' family is listed anywhere, say around 1884-5, in Ward, Skullyville County (?), or if any records exist that can be checked. Benjamin Gerelds' oldest daughter LuNora married Samuel Wallace Muse (my maternal grandparents) in 1893 and they lived for many years in Bokoshe and Shady Point area. Thanks for any help. Betty

I made a typo on the address for McAlester Courthouse in my last answer. Correct address is: Pittsburg County Courthouse 2nd & Carl Albert McAlester, Oklahoma 74501 --
Carolyn, "The Handy Book Of Genealogist" says: Some counties kept birth & death records as early as 1891, although they were quiet incomplete. Theses are kept at the county courthouses. State wide registration began in 1908, with general compliance by 1930.. They are available from the Register of Vital Stastics, State Department of Health, 1000 Northeast Tenth Street, P.O. Box 53551, Oklahoma City, OK 73152. To verify fees, call 405-271-4040." " Pittsburg County, 2nd 7 Carl Albert, McAlester, OK., 74501 (918) 423-6865 (Co Health has b. d & bur records; Clk Ct has m, div, pro & civ ct records from 1890; Co Clk has land records from 1890." Hope this helps. June Terry Johnson
