    1. Indian Cemetery - Ottawa KS
    2. Hello, I am searching for the Indian Cemetery at Ottawa Kansas - time period about 1840 - 1860. That was before Kansas was a state and I really don't know where to look. If there is a place on rootsweb for Ottawa Kansas, I have overlooked it. Can anyone tell me where I might find a list of the burials there? Ottawa Indian Cemetery, abt. 3 m. east of Ottawa at site of Ottawa Baptist Mission While I'm at it, how about research regarding activities at or near Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas? Same questions.

    3. Hi list I'M trying to help out my cousin on her family. If you have any information about the below e-mail would you please advise me. Ivan: >From The O2 Ranch of Kansas E-mail O2Ranch@ckt.net Dear Ivan, Thank you for the Cantrell info. I know very little about Richard's family other than his grandfather, James Henry Cantrell was born July 14, 1862, married Mary Elizabeth Mitchell, born May 30, 1871 and left Alabama in a hurry when his brother supposedly shot a man. They went to Texas and worked as share croppers. Also picked crops in California in the 20's. Richard's grandmother, Mary, was 3/4 Cherokee. I never met her, but the family would not talk about their roots never able to find out where she was born or anything about the Cantrells. Richard's mother was left in an orphanage in Dallas when she was eight, along with her 2 younger brothers and baby sister (her mother had died and her father couldn't care for the children.) Fifty years later, she found out that her father had remarried and had a family in Ft. Worth. All I know about these grandparents are their names: Victor Alexander (Andy) Autrey and Ina Pearl Leatherwood. We have a picture of Andy when he was a policeman in Dallas around the turn of the century. Got to run--have an Audubon meeting tonight. 3. Gay & Tim Wall's work listing the names of those who appear in the index of these papers is very much appreciated. I do not live close to the University of Oklahoma and I would like to read what the Fitzgeralds in Altus and Yukon said in Volume 30, microfiche #6016895. Does anyone know if they provide inter-library loan service and if not, how could I view the files? Thanks. Betty

    3. Montana-Blue Love that name. I am also looking for the Henderson's. My grandfather was Charles Paul Henderson who was born in Texas about 1882. His father was Ralph Henderson, born in TN in 1854. Charles and his brother Ed and his sister, Rachel all came to Oklahoma although I don't know when. And possible, the whole family came to Oklahoma. There are several more siblings, Larkin, Ann, Charles (gf) Lockie, Mary, Ed, Rachel, Ralph.----- Tthey were around Tecumseh and Norman, in Pott CO and Cleveland CO. Charles and Ed married cousins, both ladies with the surname, Lawson. 2. I have a William Scott Hurt b. abt 1868 in I.T. I am sure this is in the Cherokee Nation. His mother was born in Ark. My question is where would I try and look for him and his family? Was there an area that was more populated then other areas. I am sure this family was Cherokee or at least half. His mother being born in 1849 in Ark, would that of been Indian Territory? There were family members in Hulbert. Sandra

    3. One of the problems I have found changing from Digest to List mode is that the reply feature goes to the individual not the list and there is nothing in the Subject line to tell you where the e-mail is coming from. I am on several lists and only a couple are like this one and it is frustrating - when you get the digest at least you know where it came from. Just my 2 cents worth.
