There are over 255 of these money-making "Enterprises" going on with more being formed monthly since it was shown that people, in their zeal to "prove" (?) that they are "Indian" will pay ridiculous sums of money for "a card" whose paper content is more valuable than what's written upon it!!! In order to prove what a joke it is and that all that is required to be "enrolled" is a check book, so far we have been able to enroll a stuffed teddy bear as "a full-blood Cherokee" in one of the Georgia groups, a Dalmatian dog as one-half Cherokee in one of the Missouri groups, and a Barbi doll (the one dressed in buckskin, of course) as a quarter-blood Cherokee in one of the Arkansas groups- so pick which one of these that you want to be "blood brother" to, and get out your check book!! Even if they are State Certified-- that means nothing! It costs the state nothing-- totally NO obligation (it's a JOKE) and if they thought that they might bring in tourists, they would "certify" an Alaskan sled-dog! Jerri Chasteen

    3. After asking for a lookup and they could not find our lines, my 80 year old mother sent this email to me. I needed a laugh today and I got one. I hope it does not offend anyone. If it does I apologize in advance. Lee Mom's message went like this: Leona- I BELIEVE OUR ANCESTERS MUST HAVE ALL BEEN OUTLAWS- they were all in hiding. didn't do much for their ancestors who are trying to find them. It is my understanding that if you lived in the Indian Territory you had to register and have permission, Guess ours didn't believe in being law abiding. and that is for SURE; Guess you have figured out by now that you did not decend from the upper crust. mom --

    2. Valerie Wolf
    3. Thanks Sharon. No, I don't mind. She wrote me today. :-) I have a friend searching for her g-g-g grandmother Polly Vann, b. 1790-1810's. Married to Thompson Wall. Had a daughter named Dionicia, b. around 1829, m. Anthony Francis Marion Larue about 1855. Polly was born early 1800's, 1790-1820's. Dionicia's daugher Lillianne Larue, b. Oct. 2,1857, Mountain Grove, Wright County, Missouri, m. William Henry Hill, b. Dec. 25, 1847. Any information would be very helpful. Especially on Dionicia and Polly. Not sure of any of these spellings. Especially Polly, considering many, MANY women were nicknamed Polly then. If anybody has any info please contact Elizabeth at [email protected] Thanks. ----Valerie __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get email at your own domain with Yahoo! Samuel had been married before (no name for wife), and Catherine had been married before to a Mr. Reeves. Samuel and Catherine were my great-grandparents. Would appreciate any help. Molly Dixon

    1. [IT ROOTS] Guerin/Geurin
    2. Guerin/Geurin are different spellings for Garvin, too. The soundex for these names is G615. Alot of our ancesters couldn't read or write. When they were asked what their names were so someone could write them down; the writer spelled the name as it sounded to them. That is why there is so many different spellings of this last name. Also the the O', and Mc, and Mac were dropped from alot of these family names. Here are some of the spellings of this last name. I have found the same people's spellings of their last names different at times. Garvin,Garven, Garven, Gervin, Geurven, Geurvan, Geurvin, Guervin, Girvin, Gavin, Garwin, Garvine, Garvick, Garvinn, Garrighan, Gaurbein, ect... With a Scot-Irish accent the names could sound so different. Angela [email protected]
