I am extremely pleased to know that princess Sita of kapurthala is still alive. She is mother of minister Arun singh. I saw some stunningly beautiful photos of her by cecil beaton in Ritu Kumar's book. Princess Sita has led a glamorous life in india and paris. I really hope she writes a book about her life like Brinda and Indira . Kapurthala princesses Princess Brinda, Sita, Anita , Indira ,rani kanari and Amrit kaur of mandi led fantastic lives. They travelled around the world , wrote poems and books and were trendsetters of their age. Princess Indira even wrote a novel in 1928 called "Revenge of the gods" . Its a pity so little is known about them. Also what I feel bad is only one aspect of Mahraja Jagjit singh's personality is highlighted (the size of his large harem ). But in an age when most princes locked their women in strict purdah , jagjit singh emancipated the women of his family. Without his support they too would have been nameless and faceless like other maharanis . I can only hope that someone can prevent the saga of their extraordianry lives being lost in oblivion. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
