As for as i know , Mahendra singh had officially "Divorced" himself from the family, so automatically had he renounced his claim to the raj gaddi . As a result , Arvind singh became maharana. But he does not call himself maharana . He is the "Custodian of house of mewar" --- Mandeep Singh Bajwa <[email protected]> wrote: > The Maharana is actually his elder brother, Mahendra > Singh. The court case dragged on for years. I'm fairly certain that neither brother had the full support of all nobles nor even that of family members. IIRC their mother supported Mahendra, but the sister supported Arvind (apologies to Fr.Lawrence if I've stolen his thunder, (welcome to the list]) Cheers, Henry
True, Mahendra Singh had fallen out with his father and therefore was overlooked for succeeding him. But the Thikanedars took a strong stand and refused to accept Arvind Singh as the Maharana. The position now is that Mahendra Singh is the Maharana and Arvind Singh is the owner of all the family property and the 'Custodian of the House of Mewar' as you so rightly put it.
