VP Singh was the ruler of on old estate of Manda in UP. This was not a princely state thogh the lineage of the family is old and he is said to be the descendant of Gaharwar Raja Jai Chand of Kannauj. His wife is princess of Deogarh, a 1st class thikana in Mewar (Udaipur) Princely State in Rajasthan. The irony of VP singh's princly heritage cannot be lost. It is amusing that Raja of manda is better known (with extra "L") as "Raja of mandal" . That fact that he is descendant of most infamous "traitor" in indian history "The Jaichand of kannauj" makes it even more amusing. What I can't work is, if he is the adopted son of the late Raja of Manda, as reported in the press, are his brothers, C.S.P. Singh and S.B. Singh his adoptive brothers or 'real' brothers.
