Greetings all, Does anyone have information on the Rajas of Tajpur. What I have is as follows.. Raja SHYAM SINGH, born 18th June 1857, he was granted the title of Raja 7th December 1888 as a personal distinction. is he the same as Raja Sir Francis Xavier Shyam Rikh, born in 1856, descended from the Choudhurys of Tajpur, who were Tyagi Brahmins; he became a Catholic, along with his brother, Sir Sylvester Norman Shivnath Rikh towards the end of the 19th century, eldest son of the Raja of Tajpur in what is now Uttar Pradesh. He converted to Christianity in 1888 and adopted the name Francis Xavier.; married 1905 in Milagres Church, Mangalore, Margaret Coelho [Rani Margaret Rikh of Tajpur], born 1884, died April 1947, buried in Hosur Cemetary, Bangalore, India, daughter of Joseph Francis Coelho, and had issue, as well an adoptive son. He died in Apr 1941 at age 85, and was buried in Hosur Cemetary, Bangalore, India. A descendant, Kr. Indrajeet Singh, is presently the owner of the ancestral property. Cheers, Henry
