I have created a simple webpage featuring a few newspaper and magazine articles on the 8th Nizam of Hyderabad (including personal interviews), culled from the Australian press. They date from the 1980's and 1990's - http://cvxmelody.oxyhost.com/nizam.htm Hope there will be something there to interest you all. And if anyone has interesting published materials on 8th Nizam (especially in English), I'll be very grateful if they could pass them along! _____________________________________________________________________ Live Chat NOW! http://asia.yahoo.com/meetic/
Here is a video showing several New Delhi royal palaces, filmed just last month:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkgXlzI9FBI In order of appearance: Hyderabad House, Jaipur House, Bikaner House (Pandara Rd), Baroda House Now I was wondering if anyone can shed light on the circumstances surrounding the death of Umar Jah, the second Australian son of the 8th Nizam of Hyderabad? I believe this query has appeared on this list before, but I didn't see any answer. ----- Original Message ---- From: akshay chavan <akshaychavan@yahoo.com> To: pksaha000@yahoo.co.uk; india-royalty@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, 9 May 2008 4:46:47 Subject: Re: [INDIA-ROYALTY] Royal houses in Delhi Hi I done some research on this.. Some time back, there was discussion on residences of Rajas/ Maharajas in New Delhi. Are any members still working on the same? There appears to be two "Pataudi Houses" , One near Connaught Place ( Near Lady Irwin School) and other in Old Delhi ( near Jama Masjid). Similarly there appear to be two Jodhpur Houses. One near India gate and other on Aurangzeb Road. Is there a Bundi House, behind Jodhpur House ( Officers quarters, India gate)? Greetings all, Does anyone have information on the Rajas of Tajpur. What I have is as follows.. Raja SHYAM SINGH, born 18th June 1857, he was granted the title of Raja 7th December 1888 as a personal distinction. is he the same as Raja Sir Francis Xavier Shyam Rikh, born in 1856, descended from the Choudhurys of Tajpur, who were Tyagi Brahmins; he became a Catholic, along with his brother, Sir Sylvester Norman Shivnath Rikh towards the end of the 19th century, eldest son of the Raja of Tajpur in what is now Uttar Pradesh. He converted to Christianity in 1888 and adopted the name Francis Xavier.; married 1905 in Milagres Church, Mangalore, Margaret Coelho [Rani Margaret Rikh of Tajpur], born 1884, died April 1947, buried in Hosur Cemetary, Bangalore, India, daughter of Joseph Francis Coelho, and had issue, as well an adoptive son. He died in Apr 1941 at age 85, and was buried in Hosur Cemetary, Bangalore, India. A descendant, Kr. Indrajeet Singh, is presently the owner of the ancestral property. Cheers, Henry

Hello, dear India royalty group members. My name is Sergei. I have many relatives that are the descendants of the Abbasid Caliphs of Baghdad. I am interested, what royal houses in Pakistan, India and surrounding countries claim to be the descendants of the Abbasids. I know of Sind and Bahawalpur. I wonder how many of them have made genetic testing. I know that several Dhund Abbasis in Abbotabad have done it. The results have shown that some of them bear the J2 haplogroup, which indicates Arabic descent, but some are R1a - which might indicate local, but most probably English descent.
An anecdote here. Capt Baldev Singh, as the youngest student had the distinction of raising the national flag on the ocassion of Indian independence at Mayo College, Ajmer. Dear Abhijit, Thank you for your helpful response. If you can send me scans of your signatures at your convenience, I would be most grateful. Are there many autograph collectors in India? I'd be interested in learning more about how to obtain autographs of prominent Indians (not Bollywood or sports figures)--any email addresses you might be able to share, other items in your collection, etc. Thanks again for your help. Even if you don't buy, you could keep a copy of the scan that the seller normally uses to advertise the autograph as a reference. There are quite a few Indian sellers that have these for sale from time to time. I can give you names of various eBay shops if you wish. Cheers, Henry
HH Maharaja Sir Rajendra Narayan Singh Deo of Patna was my maternal Uncle. Patna was initially part of Central Provinces and then merged with Orissa, when the State was formed in 1936.
