    3. No, That was Cochin house. There is another large building called Travancore House which houses the "State bank of Travancore" . This was the palace of Maharaja of Travancore. --- Rahul Biswas <rahul4640@dataone.in> wrote: > DPhillips@fbm.com wrote: > > 8. Cochin House is situated on Janpath. The present Rajasthan House and J&K ( Kashmir ) House are still further away. Whose property was the present Rajasthan House? 3. Some oversight. On one side of Dholpur house is the Naval Mess which is Kota House and other side is Jamnagar House which has some barracks and Govt. offices. Both these states had apparently higher ratings than Dholpur House. 1. [INDIA-ROYALTY] Royal houses in Delhi - Mandi house
    2. Epicure
    3. The original structure of Mandi House is no longer there, it was demolished to make way for a pair of ill conceived, ill constructed and ugly towers. The portion of the boundary wall facing the round about is still of the original Mandi House. Some more Houses: Baroda House- It is housing Northern Railway head quarters. Patiala House- In a criminal state of neglect, housing courts. Travencore House - on Hailey Road round about houses some Kerala government office, perhaps tourism office. Hyderabad House is the State guest house of Govt of India, where PM holds official meetings, lunches or dinners. Dharbhanga house- Perhaps still with the youngest queen. Best Wishes! 3. I am not familiar with Delhi, but I think there is a Patiala House which houses some courts, there was a Kanika House(a zamindari of Orissa), which housed the Polish Embassy and was sold to them., there was a Hemgiri House, which belonged to the Zamindar of Hemgiri (Orissa). I am told there are two Faridkot Houses, which are centrally located. Regards, B.K. 3. Bahawalpur House is the National School of Drama. I think Darbhanga House is the only property still with a royal family at 9, Man Singh Road. It was originally to buy it for Prime Ministers house instead of Race Course Road but Govt thought that the cost was too high!!!! (I wonder why they did not take it over in "national interest" as they did with other houses.) I think Maharani Kamsundari still lives there. --- Epicure <shyamofindia@hotmail.com> wrote: > The original structure of Mandi House is no longer > there, it was demolished > to make way for a pair of ill conceived, ill > constructed and ugly towers. > The portion of the boundary wall facing the round > about is still of the > original Mandi House. > > Some more Houses: > > Baroda House- It is housing Northern Railway head > quarters. > > Patiala House- In a criminal state of neglect, > housing courts. > > Travencore House - on Hailey Road round about houses > some Kerala government > office, perhaps tourism office. > > Hyderabad House is the State guest house of Govt of > India, where PM holds > official meetings, lunches or dinners. > > Dharbhanga house- Perhaps still with the youngest > queen. > > Best Wishes! > SHYAM > > > -------------------------------------------------- > From: "akshay chavan" <akshaychavan@yahoo.com> > Sent: Monday, May 12, 2008 7:52 PM > To: <india-royalty@rootsweb.com> > Subject: Re: [INDIA-ROYALTY] Royal houses in Delhi > > > Hi > > > > I don't thnk I have the complete list too. > > > > 1. 3. Can you give the list of 19 houses. As per rough figure by my guess, there appear to be more than 35. Was there a Sangli state where presently Maharashtra Sadan is under construction and was called Sangli Apartments? Who was the owner of Andhra Land opp. Lady Irwin School. Was Dholpur House where UPSC is presently located, enjoyed higher gun salute than Jamnagar, who house is next ( the Naval mess of today) and away from India Gate? 3. Hi I don't thnk I have the complete list too. 1. Sangli - It was alloted to sangli state but house was not built. 2. I think Andhra land was Pataudi House... not sure. 3. Dholpur House - Yes, the UPSC building was the Dholpur house. 4. Kota House - This is the Naval mess which you are referring to. It belonged to Kota Family. 5. Next to Kota house, and kapurthala house on mansingh road is Jaisalmer House. 6. The Nepal Embassy was originally alloted to Dhar state. I am not sure if building was built by Dhar family too. 7. There was Bharatpur House but am not sure of its location. 8. Cochin House is situated on Janpath. It belonged to Khushwant Singh's father. It is called Kerala House now. 9. There were Nabha house, Jind House and Tehri Gharwal House as well. 10. Doordarshan head office is located in Mandi House belonging to Mandi state. I dont know if orginal palace is still there. I too would love to know if someone has complete list. Regards Akshay --- pabitra saha <pksaha000@yahoo.co.uk> wrote: > Can you give the list of 19 houses.
