Dear all, I am looking for a respected historian who could confirm me the rank and status of a Zamindar family from east bengal (Ulpur/Shahpur) Could anyone suggest someone? As I am in India at the moment I would be glad to discuss as well via telephone. Thank you, G Roy Chowdhury
Gentlemen, As per information received today, Maharaja Bahadur Sir Kameshwar Singh, K.C.I.E., the last king of Darbhanga state used to have two railway saloon coaches for travel. One used to be meter gauge coach and the other was for broad gauge travel. Both were stabled in Barauni Junction in a dilapidated manner. However, currently none is remaining there. Have they been removed for preservation in any railway museum? Does anyone have any information? Regards, Rahul Biswas

Hi Henry, Silver and golden coins rupees were issued during the reign of Muhammad Akbar II (1806-1837)in the various mints but i am not sure if there was any mint with the name Budsu or related to Mewar or Jodhpur. I am enclosing a picture of a silver Nazrana coin struck in his period. Hi Henry Speaking from the point of view of someone who did a major in Hsitory before my engineering I am not sure if I have understood the query - in the original mail properly. 1. The person wants to know if any coin was issued by the mughal ruler Akbar II when he came to the thrown 2.If there are any historic records - documents of the same. What exactly is the lady / gentlemen looking for - some historic document or a coin or an official declaration from that time or extracts from books on that era 3. Link with Mewar or Jodhpur - again what sort of links 4. I have no clue - but depending on the purpose of these queries the ICHR that is the Indian Council for Historic Research is the best organization to sp 2 Also depending on the physcial location of the person a visit to the teen murti dep of ICHR or the Delhi Univ Hist dep would certainly clarify all the points in one stroke If any history lecturer / reader / prof needs to be sp 2 that can also be organized --- On Fri, 10/24/08, Henry Soszynski <h.soszynski@uqconnect.net> wrote: From: Henry Soszynski <h.soszynski@uqconnect.net> Subject: [INDIA-ROYALTY] Query regarding Mughal silver rupees To: india-royalty@rootsweb.com Date: Friday, October 24, 2008, 1:53 PM The following is a query that I received earlier.
