    3. About the elction results: 1. Vasundhara Raje Scindia: Maharani of Dholpur won her seat but has lost the position of chief minister. 2. Siddihi kumari of Bikaner has won from Bikaner. 3. Vishwendra Singh of Bharatpur has lost from Kumher (Serves him right!!). In Madhya Pradesh, bad luck of scindia family continues 1. Jyotiraditya Scindia has had to face major losses as most of his candidates lost. Most bastions of the family like gwalior, guna, shivpuri etc.... all have gone to opposition party. Interesting most of them who won are well known "palace haters". 2. Ajay singh of the now infamous Churhat family has won from Churhat. 3. Tikamgarh : Kunwar Vikram singh of Tikramgarh royal family has won from rajnagar. I am not aware of the royal candidates in chhatisgarh. Can anyone please fill in? --- On Wed, 12/10/08, pabitra saha <pksaha000@yahoo.co.uk> wrote: > From: pabitra saha <pksaha000@yahoo.co.uk> > Subject: [INDIA-ROYALTY] Royalty in winning elections > To: "royalty" <INDIA-ROYALTY-L@rootsweb.com> > Date: Wednesday, December 10, 2008, 2:42 PM > Now that elections results are out, many royal have won > their elections. >   > Siddhi Kumari of Bikaner is one. > What about others? >   > PKS > > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > INDIA-ROYALTY-request@rootsweb.com with the word > 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and > the body of the message

    2. Shashank Kothi
    3. Hello: Well I would not be sure. At the risk of digressing from the core focus of this group.. While he apparently was a clean personality and stood up for his convictions, his record once he left Congress (ie became PM) is consistently sorry. Two glaring examples: 1. He was party to (if not himself responsible) for freeing Kashmiri militants in exchange of for the daughter of Mufti Sayeed - Rubina Sayeed (if I am not mistaken) - thus setting a sad precedent. 2. Responsible for Mandal Commission - which by extending reservations in jobs, universities, etc only the basis of caste and not merit defeated the very purpose of eliminating castes. Support to (ostensibly) weaker sections ought to be based on financial/social needs not by compromising merits! In short, he was a big letdown to the very people who had put him in the office. It will be unfair to consume bandwidth of this forum on current political/social issues... Anyways back to history/royalty.. Apparently his ancestry was traced to Jaichand of Kannauj (probably by Mani Shankar Aiyar of Congress, who of course had vested interest in maligning VP as he had left Congress under a cloud). Jaichand is widely regarded as a traitor in the Indian history. He is the man who is supposed to have betrayed Prithviraj Chauhan to the invading Mohammad Ghori (late 12th century). Ghori is the one who is actually credited with establishing Muslim Rule in India as he left behind Qutubuddin Aibak (of the Qutub Minar in Delhi fame). Coming back to VP, Mani Shankar's efforts would technically be in vain as apparently VP was an adopted child, thus the link of Rajas of Manda with Jaichand, even if true, is very tenuous. --- On Tue, 12/9/08, Katherine Brobeck <sivadasi@erols.com> wrote: > From: Katherine Brobeck <sivadasi@erols.com> > Subject: Re: [INDIA-ROYALTY] Manda > To: india-royalty@rootsweb.com > Date: Tuesday, December 9, 2008, 1:52 PM > Oh, sad news. > I really admired that man.
