The present Raja has three daughters, and there doesn't appear to be a male heir in the immediate family. Porbandar has a number of eligible heirs, but the late Maharaja failed to follow tradition and instead adopted his step-son, as a result, there is no representative of the Royal Family presently known, although a number of young nobles of the Morana, Ratdi, Shrinagar, Pandavadar and Baredia branches were eligible for adoption. 3. Hi Stephen Thank you so much for this information. It is very kind of you. These list show very minor and insignificant states. This is in great contrast to big states which have lapsed after 1971. Some of them are 1. Indore 2. Dhar 3. Dewas Junior 4. Sangli 5. Porbandar 6. Mudhol The list of post 1971 "died out states" is very large. There are estimates that almost 60 states have died out. Some like Morvi (adopted grandson) and Akkalkot (adopted heir) had died but are ( back from the dead!!!!!!)if I may be permitted to say so. --- STEPHEN F RUELBERG <sruelberg@sbcglobal.net> wrote: > Still another lapsed state on the list Nandgaon in > 1958. 3. These are some contents of the tindex page of narsinghgarh 's site. http://www.narsinghgarhstate.com/index.html " When Raja Bhoj, a devout Shiv Bhakta, came to know of the attack by Sultan Mehmood Ghaznavi, the Afghan Ruler, on the famous Jyotirling Temple of Somnath in Gujarat; he marched on the Muslim Ruler. When Ghaznavi was informed that Raja Bhoj was coming with a powerful army and had already blocked his retreat via Rajasthan, he fled to Afghanistan through the Rann of Kachchh and the Thar desert of Rajasthan. As a result much of his army perished in the most inhospitable land due to lack of water and food. He was, further, attacked and plundered by the Bhati Rajputs in the Thar desert. With great difficulty he saved his life and reached Ghazni with the residue force. After that Mehmood never dared look towards India. Raja Bhoj died in 1154 A. D." The writer of these facts must have known that it was King Bhimdev -I Solanki, Chauhan Visaldev, son Of King Dharmgajdev of Ajmer with his uncle Dhundhiraj and Other Rajputs rulers of Rajputana were those who have blocked the pathway of Mahmud. 1 lakh rajput swords were waiting for Muslims to slaughter them and take revenge of Somnath. Because of them, Mahmud was forced to take way from Rann of Katchh, where Chauhan Samant Singh was waiting for him to guide his way to death through the Rann. There was not a single soldier of Bhoj's army in the battle of Somnath or in the bolckage of the return way. The writer have taken all the facts in the favour of a man who have not a single role in these chapter of history. 3. Hi all, I'm looking for any information on the Maharaja VijaySinjhi or members of his household covering the time he spent in England during the late 1920s and early to mid 1930s. I am aware of his horse racing triumphs but there seems to be very little else on the web. Did he live in Windsor at this time or elsewhere? Did his family and members of his household accompany him from India or did he have a separate household in England? When and how did he meet his third wife? (who was English) Is there any record of what dates he spent in England? I am particularly interested in any member of the household (relative or otherwise) who might have had a Civil Engineering degree or have attended an English University during this time. I'd also be interested to know if anyone can tell me whether Terry or Tereth (sp?) are likely names for someone who might have been an Indian member of the household. I know this sounds like a very odd set of questions! If I get any positive answers I may explain a little more of why I am asking! Heather
