Hello list, In my search for my great-grandfather's death, I came across a possible match - except that the date of birth was six years later, which made me think it was the wrong person. Would a six year error be too much? My great grandfather married in England and was described as a "Writing Clerk". He then went out to India and my grandfather was born in Poona "in the Railway Department". The possible link I have found died in Jhelum, Bengal and was described as "Workman on P.N.L.Railway" My questions are:- (a) Would a "Writing Clerk" end up as a "Workman on the Railway" - or does it perhaps mean working in the Railway Department? (b) What is the P.N.L. Railway? I looked on Google and couldn't really get an answer. (c) Lastly: Was there a retirement home for Railway workers' families in Bangalore? Hopefully - Pam Harrison
