Hello list, I wonder if you can jog my memory about BMD certificates. I was born in India, and have a "Statement of Birth" rather than a certificate as we know it. I also have a marriage certicate for my grandparents who were married in 1895 (with an official stamp on it- signed by Hello list, I wonder if someone could jog my memory about BMD certificates, for people born or married in India, and whether it is possible to get hold of them. If so, how do I set about it? I was born in India and have a "Statement of Birth" rather than a certificate as we know it. I also have a marriage certificate for my grandparents who were married in 1895 - signed by the Constable and Chaplain, which look official, but I believe certificates did not come into being until several years later. I have information about numerous other relatives, but it would be nice to actually have the certificates. Thank you - Pam Harrison
