First of all, a big basketful of thanks to John for considering me eligible for this duty. I'm not sure if I'm the right person - but now that I am left with no choice, I shall try to do justice to the best of my ability. Thanks also to all of you for your continued support to the list. Hope our association will grow stronger in the years to come. Let me make one thing very clear. I'm purely a locum tenens. This is John's list and will remain so. I'm here as Administrator simply for the time being, till John resumes his driver's seat. So there will no appreciable change in anything and we all must follow the rules and guidelines prescribed by John, to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the list, without any flame war on our hands. Everyone of you must have received his introductory message when you joined the group, and all that he has said in it, stands as it is. I'll post that message once again, in case somebody needs a re-look. I am confident of your cooperation and hope I won't have to put the Admin's hat on my rapidly balding head. In any case, it's my personal belief that moderators/ adminstrators should not be visible, unless it's really necessary, and that as members with mature heads on our respective shoulders, we are fully capable of obeserving rules. So, let's all commit ourselves once again to remain within the parameters prescribed by John. This list is for nostalgia, genealogical studies, as well as for discussing all aspects of the British Raj in India, as explained in the introductory message, and everybody who is interested in these matters is welcome here. We are an international list, so let's avoid doing anything that may hurt feelings or cause angry looks. I am always open to suggestions and would welcome any advice that you may wish to give me for making this list more popular.
