    3. When I was very young I had a Black faced doll which was known as a Golly wog. A very dark skinned person who had curly hair was also sometimes called a Coffree or Coffree Gulla. I think the origin must have been kaffir (a slang word for a Black South African). We did not mean to offend anyone and in those days, people did not seem to be so touchy or petty.
