Other sources you might try include: http://wiki.fibis.org/ and http://www.cyndislist.com/ships.htm their 'Ships and Passenger Lists' It's a huge subject, and some indication of dates and ports of departure and arrival, ship's names (and their Official Number), etc., will help If you do find the name of any particular British ship, many of their original crew and passenger lists are archived at the Memorial University of Newfoundland http://www.mun.ca/mha/holdings/shipping.php These are the archives of the British Registrar of Ships and Seamen, and of course include passenger ships, with the remaining surviving records at Greenwich Maritime Museum, but you really also need the Official Number of these ships to make searches through these huge archives. Another source may be the Indian and Asian department of the British Library.
