    1. [INDIA-BRITISH-RAJ] Anthony Pohlmann's whereabouts
    2. Harshawardhan_Bosham Nimkhedkar
    3. Does anyone know what was Anthony Pohlmann doing on 23 September 1803? Was he or was he not among those present? Mr Herbert Compton says ''aye''; Mr Randolph G. S. Cooper, however, denies it. What does Boy Wellesley claim in his dispatches? Enquiring minds want to know ..... :-) ---- Harshawardhan_Bosham Nimkhedkar

    1. [INDIA-BRITISH-RAJ] $15million for Historic 76-carat diamond from India
    2. Harshawardhan_Bosham Nimkhedkar
    3. The four-hundred-year-old Archduke Joseph diamond, which fits snugly into the palm of an adult's hand, weighs a staggering 76.02 carats. And, when the half-inch thick sparkler goes under the hammer at Christie's, in Geneva, on November 13, it is set to fetch more than $15million. The gem is named after its original owner Archduke Joseph August, who was the highest ranking official in the Kingdom of Hungary during the 19th century. It originated from India's now defunct Golconda mine, sharing its origins with some of the world's most impressive diamonds including the Kohinoor, part of the British Royal Collection and the Regent, which is the centerpiece of the French Crown Jewels. 1. [INDIA-BRITISH-RAJ] Indian Forestry Records & Directories for the Nizam's Dominons
    2. Kerry Edwards
    3. Hi Listers, my grandfather Frank Carnac Edwards (28 February 1877 - 26 July 1936) did his training as a Forest officer at Dehra Dun and then became an Asst Conservator of Forests and then a Conservator of Forests in the Nizam's Dominions (Hyderabad State). From his records that he kept in his personal Burke's Shikar Register, he was Asst Conservator of Forests in 1912. I am trying to locate: 1. his training/academic records (needless to say emails to the Forestry school in DD have been fruitless). 2. His appointment as ACF and CF in the Nizam's Dominions (Hyderabad State). Has anyone access to Hyderabadi directories that show employment appointments for the years 1896 - 1930? The Indian Digital Library only has one in 1938. I need this information to incude it in a book I am compiling on my g-f and father's Shikari and other adventures in Hyd State. Also looking for access to Times of India papers online for the years 1920-1936. Any help appreciated. Kudha Hafiz Kerry

    3. Hello list, I wonder if someone could jog my memory. I am sure there has been correspondence previously about the subject, but I wonder if it is possible to get hold of birth, marriage or death certificates for people born etc in India? If so, how do I set about it? I have a Statement of Birth for myself, and also what looks like a certificate of marriage for my grandparents in 1895 - signed by the Constable, and the Chaplain, - but they are not the same as the GRO ones. 3. Hello list, I wonder if you can jog my memory about BMD certificates. I was born in India, and have a "Statement of Birth" rather than a certificate as we know it. I also have a marriage certicate for my grandparents who were married in 1895 (with an official stamp on it- signed by Hello list, I wonder if someone could jog my memory about BMD certificates, for people born or married in India, and whether it is possible to get hold of them. If so, how do I set about it? I was born in India and have a "Statement of Birth" rather than a certificate as we know it. I also have a marriage certificate for my grandparents who were married in 1895 - signed by the Constable and Chaplain, which look official, but I believe certificates did not come into being until several years later. I have information about numerous other relatives, but it would be nice to actually have the certificates. Thank you - Pam Harrison
