Hi Stuart Could I ask where your LYNCH family originated from before going to India. I am following Lynch name in Madras but my John Lynch was born in Co Clare and joined the HEIC and went to Madras in 1848 so a generation earlier probably than the Lynch family you are researching. My John was born 1827 to Patrick Lynch but I believe Patrick's father to be Michael, however all these names are so prominent in Ireland, so it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. My great-uncle Michale Lynch was born there in September 1852, but I can find no reference to his brother, John Lynch - my g-grandfather whom I think was born there too - around 1845-50.
