Both of the posts seem to be related to soldiers. there was a periodical, called Colburn's United Service Magazine. The issues often had "Domestic Occurrences" listed (that is births, deaths etc) Apparently, the reporting method was informal so I am not promising every incident was listed. Also, they might be 3 or months late, due to travel. (fax was not in widespread use in the 1800's) the magazine can be found in HathiTrust online. there are quite a few years available.
