She died in Calcutta, India in 1921. Jane's father was Patrick (or Thomas) RAYNEY, of the Royal Garrison Army (RGA). Possibly 9th Company, Heavy Battery, Western Division as she married her first husband (Samuel George HORTON) at the Trimulgherry (Madras) station in 1899, and the certificate is from its register. Her first husband was with the 72nd Company RGA Heavy Battery, and died at the Nowgong station in 1903. I've found possible RAYNEY uncles and aunts via Family Search, but not her birth record, her mother's name, nor any siblings. If I'm correct, her father was born in the Madras Presidency in 1860 (or 1861 if Patrick William), and died before 1904, or at latest by 1911. I have tried the London Gazette, 1911 British census (in which Jane appears) and FIBIS. Unless a divorce may have occurred and Patrick married again in 1901... however, I understood that Jane's mother lived with her in the first decade of the 1900s. Surname spelled 6 known ways on Family Search including RAINEY, RAINY, REYNEY, REINY. Any help welcome. Thanks. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
