    3. Hello List Phillip, the FIBIS Fibiwiki page Police will give you an idea of the records available http://wiki.fibis.org/index.php?title=Police I have never looked at records for Police, but they do sound quite complicated. However even if you find out details about his career, I think it is very unlikely you would find any information about "who his first wife was and if he had any children with her". If you were lucky you might find where he had come from. One of the links on the Fibiwiki page is a book by an author I. Tyrrell who joined the Madras Police in 1860. He had been in a British Army Regiment in India, so it is possible James Grant had a similar background. Coincidentally I. Tyrrell was appointed an Inspector of Police and went to Nellore, but I did not see a mention of James Grant in the chapters about Nellore. James Grant was a widower and Ann Thomas a widow. On the wedding certificate it says that he was an Inspector of Police. He was 42 and she 37 years old when married. Does anyone know if there are any records of the police in Nellore, Madras, India that I could look at which could possibly give me clues to where he was born, who his first wife was and if he had any children with her. Thanks, Phillip
