    3. Hello List David, although it is not directly connected with your enquiry, this Rootsweb India Message Board thread, to which I gave a reply, seemed to have a Parsi connection. So perhaps there was some intermarriage http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.asia.india.general/417.1/mb.ashx There are FIBIS Fibiwiki pages German and Jewish http://wiki.fibis.org/index.php?title=German and http://wiki.fibis.org/index.php?title=Jewish although the early Jews in India seemed to be Baghdadi Jews, rather than European Jews, so perhaps you should be focusing on the German connection. Cheers Maureen -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of David Railton Sent: Saturday, 9 March 2013 8:44 AM To: [email protected]; INDIA-BRITISH-RAJ Subject: [INDIA] TUBACK I have the name Maneckji Pestonji Tuback born about 1827 probably in Bombay. He was Commissioner of the Baroda Police. He married a Parsi and his children were Parsi. His father may have been Pestonjee Merwanjee Tuback born about 1809. What I am having difficulty with is a Parsi having what appears to be a non Parsi surname. Is it not unusual if not unheard of particularly in those times for the children of a mixed Parsi non-Parsi marriage to be Parsees? I am guessing that Tuback is German and maybe Jewish. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? David
