I've looked at the Lawrence website, but think that all their main/more detailed records are from a slightly later period, unfortunately. I had been hoping for some mention of what had happened to her parents, and of the reason for her being admitted to the LMA. Thanks to Penni, I now know that Emma's mother remarried (to a Sergeant William Phillips) in Dum Dum, Bengal, on 24 March 1846. I found a possible death for John Malone in Dum Dum, on 6 April 1844 - but this would have been 7 months before Emma's birth and, as far as I can see from transcripts, there is no mention on Emma's baptism of her having been a posthumous child. Also, this death entry gives John Malone as 'Town Sergeant, Calcutta Police', rather than as a sergeant in the European Regiment - the First Bengal Fusiliers, I think? I get very confused over the constant changes in regiments' names and organisations! There are a couple of other John Malone deaths, none look obviously correct. Thanks again for your help, Janice Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
