My 4th great grandfather, William was born in England and joined the army in 1796. He ended up fighting in the Burmese War and died after being thrown from his buggy.He is burried in Ghazeepore. I believe William had two children: William and Matilda. Matida married James Docherty and emigrated to New Zealand. Their daughter, Mary Elizabeth, is my great great grandmother. I believe she was born in Fort St George, Chennai (Madras), India on 03 January 1848. I would love to know who William's wife was, and when they were married........and if they had any other children. I read somewhere that Matilda was half Indian, but that is not proven.
